Puppy

Another NOT knock off! All in pencil, and all with HB and 2H. This is really ticking me off, all of my other pencils have disappeared. If they don't show up by tomorrow I will be forced to make an art store run.

Attack Squirrel

A quick ink by decree of the son...original request was to make him a ninja, but we compromised at a battle ax.

Squirrel

A little crooked but.........not a knock off! From a photo of the great common eastern gray squirrel, aka day rat. We decided that his eyes are really saying, "I should have used Preparation H."

Boy

Another Matt Phelan plagiarism (not plagiarism if I give the credit right?).

Monkeys

These are the first 2 monkeys in Justin Gerard's “Monkey’s ate my desktop" (http://www.justingerard.com/blog/?p=40).
I just got the new pens and monkeys are good to play with. :)

Some Needlepoint

The original painting by Angel Sarkela-Saur is called "Exhilaration" (her website is http://www.justcoffeeart.com/). One of the drops got cut off, my scanner is only so big after all and it's on a full sized pillowcase, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

Pirate Notebook

A penciled cover for one of my son's notebooks, so that places it as made in August of this year. We like pirates. :) I was supposed to make something on the back cover (you know, that he would be looking AT through that cool spyglass) but it hasn't happened yet.

Sitting Woman

This charcoal was done some time this past summer, it's from a photo I found online, if I remembered where I'd tell you. I hate doing noses, really, really hate them.

First Post!

I'm going to use this blog to try to keep track of the efforts/results and hopefully progress of my creative attempts. Right now I'm doing a lot of copying, it is easier to practice that way. The charcoal drawing of the woman and the ink of the bear are both mine, but the original sources are from Matt Phelan (he has a great blog btw). My projects are hanging around drawing and needlepoint right now, but I've seen some beautiful painted quilts (especially by Judy Coates Perez) that are making me dream about combining the two.
